As part of our ongoing commitment to community wellbeing and environmental stewardship, Holistic Impact Hub members recently joined a group walk up Mount Heha, the highest mountain in Burundi — alongside tourists visiting from abroad and members of the local Burundian community.

In communities across Burundi, two groups of displaced people are navigating an extraordinarily difficult reality: Congolese refugees who have fled violence and instability in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Burundian returnees coming home after years of exile.

Burundi is one of the most densely populated countries in Africa. With a rapidly growing population and a land area of just over 27,000 square kilometres, the pressure on land, food, and employment has never been greater.

Every morning in Bujumbura, hundreds of children wake up on the streets. No warm meal. No clean water. No parent to check their fever or comfort their pain. These are Burundi's street children and abandoned youth — among the most vulnerable and most forgotten members of our society.

Behind every program, every training session, and every community gathering at Holistic Impact Hub are real people — with real stories of courage, healing, and transformation.

Every young person deserves a future. In Burundi, thousands of young people — many of them refugees, returnees, or survivors of conflict — are growing up without access to quality education, mental health support, or economic opportunity.

Burundi is a country of extraordinary resilience. Despite decades of conflict, displacement, and poverty, its people carry an unshakeable spirit — a deep desire to rebuild, to thrive, and to leave something better for the next generation.
